Luang pu Nenkham Chattigo led a group of Sangha disciples to Wat Tum Chum Pa Kantasilavas.

On September 25, 2008 Luang pu Nenkham Chattigo led a group of Sangha disciples to Wat Tum Chum Pa Kantasilavas, Ban Kan Tae, Nong Soong, Nong Soong, Mukdahan province to escort his venerable Luang Pu Somboon Khantigo or Luang Pu Yai back to Wat Pa Khanti Dhamma after a week of taking a rest there.

It’s an opportunity to make a visit the forest rock cave temple by Luang Pu Nenkham and his Sangha disciples and pay respect to the peaceful sacred place where his venerable Luang pu Sao Kantasilo, his venerable Luang Pu Mun Bhuritadto and Maechee Chan ( Luang Pu Mun’s mother ordained as a nun) used to live since 1916. Both meditation masters and Maechee Chan were staying at this place for 5 years although there were many terrifying wild animals around on those days. As the saying goes, in front of the cave there were many tigers teasing each other with fun everyday, therefore the devout meditators enthusiastically put a lot of effort to practise seriously because the tigers’ roar encouraged them all the time. Nowadays Tum Chum Pa’s surroundings are still covered with evergreen trees, including very big trees and various kinds of plants. Not any moisture in the cave which is telling how genius of both venerable masters who decided to choose this place for practising meditation.

In 1916 Tan Pra Ajahn Sao Kantasilo was staying during the rainy season at Tum Bhupa Good, Nong Soong, Mukdahan, which was not so big hill, so it can be seen easily from a village. Bhupa Good was 5 kilometres from Nong Soong district, pass through Ban Kan Tae, then made a short cut by walking until reached the foothills where open forest located ,whereupon forest monks’ dwelling settled and named as Wat Tum Chumpa Kantasilavas.

Tan Pra Ajahn Sao who was expert in forest lifestyle, chose the suitable place to stay, the cave was not so high, the open forest which no moist, at below a stream passing by. This serene area was the place for his venerable to stay for 5 years. At Tum Chumpa Luang Pu Sao enlightened the supreme Dhamma to the extinction of all defilements. Therefore all Buddhists should reserve this sacred place and remind newly vipassana meditators to follow both venerable meditation masters’ paths until attain Nibbana.

On this important occasion, Luang Pu Nenkham Chattigo and his Sangha disciples were very appreciated to both venerable masters’ way of life and their teachings with deep gratitude and respect by bodily, speech, and mind to all liberated masters who attained enlightenment at Tum Chumpa. May all visitors to this place be liberated.
